3:49AM and I’m tired but wired… (Bourbon gig recap)
February 28 2010
So let’s start at the end and work backwards.
It’s 3:49AM and I’m tired but wired. Mircea and I shared a cab home- and what a ride it was. An adventurous ride full of post-gig chatter, the entire Bronze Medal winning Ladies Cross-Country Skiing team from Finland, the forgotten bag of death and a spot of Gatorade. What a night. FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN. I haven’t eaten since that awful pizza about 7pm and my stomach is starting to growl. But sleep is about to trump hunger. I need to hit the hay. But before I do, let’s go back to the Bourbon.
Wasn’t the vibe and energy coming out of Canada’s Hockey win over Slovakia just totally bonkers? The Bourbon was ripe with cheers and beers- and at one point the entire stage was full of Olympic sized revelry. Yikes- I thought to myself, where’s my drum kit going to go? Up before us WFS blokes was a great band called Columbia. They are an up and coming Canadian rock band, and if you can- you should check them out on their upcoming Cross Canadian Tour.

A few cans of R@d Bull later, it’s time to hit the stage. After seeing the band Coeur de Pirate get booed last week at Livecity Yaletown- I was sort of worried that our slower songs might not go over so well. But what happened was an honest performance on our part- and something just felt right. Maybe it was looking out and seeing a few people singing along, or the Olympic spirit that filled the room- who knows. But it felt good. Something just clicked.
Time to hit the pillow.
Sweet Dreams,
Ben.
